Hi, Greg here! In Jules Verne’s famous novel, Around the World in 80 Days, Phileas Fogg takes
on a challenge to go around the world in 80 days. If he can complete this challenge, he will
win a bet of 20,000 pounds. Phileas, and his travel companion Passepartout, use trains and
ships to complete their journey. However, Mark Beaumont of the UK decided to take on this challenge by bicycle!

Waking up each morning at 03:00 and riding for 16 hours a day, Mark was able to achieve his goal
in just over 78 days. When asked if he would cycle around the world again to defend his record
if someone broke it, Mr. Beaumont just laughed and said: “Not a chance!”
