I recently had the chance to do some rock climbing on Mount Myogi in Tomioka-shi, Gunma. It was my first visit to the beautiful mountain since I was a high school student at nearby Tomioka High School in 1993. Unlike the surrounding mountains, Myogi is made almost entirely out of volcanic rock, having once been a volcano itself. Therefore, it’s eroded peaks look more like the stereotypical mountains of China than they do Japanese mountains. Myogi is difficult climbing. However, the scenery is spectacular! /新宿インストラクター S
