So I’m headed back to America in July to visit my friends/family for the first time in (what will be) 2 years. It’s been a long time and I miss them…but there are some other things that I miss, too…here are some of the big ones… -Primanti Brother’s sandwich shop- thick Italian bread, lots of cheese, meat, tomatoes, hot sauce…and even french fries and coleslaw INSIDE the sandwich. There’s nothing better! -International beers- Japanese beer is good, but sometimes you need some variety. Bars/Liquor shops in Sendai have some international beers, but not nearly as much as back home. And the prices in Pittsburgh are much cheaper. -Cheap/no cover charges- I don’t drink a lot, but I like going to bars/clubs to see DJs and just enjoy music. In Japan, if you want to see a decent DJ, it seems like you have to pay at least 2,000 yen just to get into the club. In Pittsburgh, it’s more like $5…or free. -International restaurants- Jewish bagels for breakfast from real Jews, perogies for lunch cooked by Polish people, and Mexican for dinner served by native Mexicans. There are some good cultural restaurants in Sendai, but it just doesnt feel as authentic sometimes. Don’t get me wrong…I love Japan and all of it’s culture, but I’m looking forward to getting back to the things that I miss. I hope you all get a chance to travel and experience the same things! Peace. /Sendai Study Advisor Stephen M
